Well, its been a while. I recently purchased a RoboPanda and have been probing its guts. While it has a lot of interesting bits and pieces, its hackability is not particularly high. It would be nice to figure out the modules though. To that end, I have figured out that the modules are SunPlus 8MB low voltage SPI ROM's.

After a little browsing of the datasheets, and a little bit of coding, I have dumped the contents of the modules, you can have a look at them here. You can also read a brief discussion about the contents here.

It looks like the modules contain more than just sounds and action scripts, it looks like they may also contain program code. Which means any attempt at reverse engineering is that much harder, since the CPU is undoubtedly a SunPlus one, and they like to keep details of their processors and machine code to themselves.

And to top it off, there is a chance the contents is also scrambled, just to make things that little but more interesting,
