Accessing the RS Media's serial console
This How-To is still a work in progress, and not intended to be actually used at this point in time.
So you want to access the serial console on the RS Media? This How-To will tell you how. It covers three different methods you could use to access the RS Media's serial console, as well as some things to try, and not to try, if you do access the serial console.
Bluetooth Power
I finally finished (at least for now) my hack to add a Bluetooth serial module onto the RS Media. What drove me to it in the end, was constantly having to replace the batteries in my temporary power supply when I forgot unplug it after I finished with it. This is what the temporary supply looked like.
Bluetooth Power: Temporary power supply for the bluetooth module. Its old torch body that holds 2AA's. Since it doesn't have a switch, I turn the module on and off by unplugging it.

All Done... For Now
I finally got sick of having to change the batteries in the temporary power supply (a modified torch, and some sticky tape) for my bluetooth module. Every time I used it, I'd forget to unplug it after I was done and the batteries would run out.
So after two days of work, fixing on problem or another, I finally got rid of the temporary power supply and installed a permanent one along with a switch to turn it on and off. Since that's pretty much the final step, I'll begin work on a How-To for anyone else interested. Details on the power supply, and hopefully the How-To, should hopefully be available in the next day or so.

If I Could Kick Myself
RSV3L over at the RoboSapien.tk forums posted some useful information. Nothing really new to me (and some of it appears to be inaccurate), figuring out the serial connection was one of the first things I did with the RS Media, but it did point out that the Board Support Package (version 0.3.8) contains a working toolchain that can be used to compile programs for the RS Media. The reason I am kicking myself is because I spent quite a while looking at the freescale site, and I never looked at the BSP packages. If it hadn't been for RSV3L, I'd still be puttering around getting nowhere.
